Found a 2008 SD Lariat CC dually diesel 4x2 with 7900 miles. Truck has ever option except sunroof. Only asking $38,890. Taking a look at it tomorrow and dealer will provide carfax and oasis. Sound good??
I wouldn't trust the dealer to provide you a Carfax report and an Oasis report. Get your own reports so you can be sure of the content. With today's technology the report is way too easy to fake.
With a used vehicle this new, you need to find out what the story is on it. Short term lease return? Lemon law? Bank repo? Trade from unhappy owner? Dealer demo? Flood damaged?
List on a new 2008 F-350 Lariat CC 2x4 with most options is close to $50,000, so this may be a great deal....or it may be a nightmare. Keep your eyes open and don't fall in love with the truck.
I agree price seems a little low & pretty low miles w/ short ownership to boot - I'd be cautious. Do some homework 1st....
I thought I'd found a great deal on an 05 6.0L 4x4 a few days ago till I read the Oasis & Carfax reports - truck was chock full 'o' trouble - lots of stuff on the Oasis report for turbo work, re-flash X3, tow command issues, etc.
The sales guy gave me a total line of BS - told me it was a 'local' truck one owner yada, yada, yada. I get an Oasis run on the VIN & find out the truck was originally delivered to a TN dealer (def not local IMHO) Plus Carfax showed 3 registrations (TN, NC & VA) and two separate owners. From the way things look I suspect it was a buyback, then was auctioned and wound up in VA on a local dealer's lot. (this dealer I'm speaking of owns 2 auction houses - 1 local & 1 in NC and moves vehicles around btw their dealships to muddy the waters on vehicles w/ odd histories if you know what I mean)
Even if the salesman is your best friend - always keep a wary eye out - if something smells funny it probably is.
Had a Friend just get the same kind of deal. Guy bought it and found out he needed bigger ***** to drive a dually in NYC! Stepped down to a 3/4 srw. But a great deal for my friend
If your worried about the used aspect talk to the dealer about getting you a good deal on the 7 yr/200k Ford ESP. The carfax isn't as important as the oasis. I'd ask on here for someone else to run an oasis just to double check, but the 6.4's haven't had near as many problems as the 6.0's when they came out. With the ESP I would think you'll be ok.
