Ford has offered the CAT and Cummins for a long time in CLASS 5-6 trucks. That is the F-650 and F-750 trucks. For that matter so does Chevy in the Kodiak and Topkick line (also Class 5-6 trucks). But to come on this site in the Ford diesel thread where we talk about about our F-250, 350, 450 and 550 trucks....where the CAT and Cummins are not offered from the factory. And state that it will be offered this year is obsurd!! The FTE web site home page has a "lastest news release" section and they do a great job of keeping up with the very latest info.
My OPINION is: You will never see a great variety of diesel options in the Super Duty line up. I think it would cost too much. There are diferences in each motor. ie. motor mounts, transmission bolt up, different number of return lines and size of return lines, weight differences in the engines might require different springs inth e front end. different weights mean different payload
And if the 6.4 is a $7000 option how much more would the CAT C-12 cost? Or an M-11 Cummins? And heres this, the towing capacity will NOT go up much further because of chassis, brake, wheel, tire limitations.
worst part is someone will read what you wrote and think they can go to the Ford dealer and order one......or worse they will go to work and tell thier buddies they are gonna order one because they read on this site that is is going to be availible or is availible.....won't they look silly.
Dont Get So Evil With Me. Thats Just What I Heard From A Ford Salesmen That Ford Was Going To Offer This So I Dont Know. Maybe They Will And You Will Look Silly.
your salesmans an idiot. and yes they already offer this in the 650's and 750's. theres no way they could offer them in the 250-550's. come on now. have you seen the size of those engines?
