Is it $1200 for a couple filing jointly, or is that if there are other dependants? I won't turn it down, but don't think it will have a great stimulus for the economy. Depending on how much you get, you might have enough for a new set or tires or tires and a cheap winch or if you are married, it will all go for the wench. LOL. Hope my wife doesn't see this. It won't really matter though, cuz she'll still get it all. LOL
its going to amount to about 1800 for us, I threw a few ideas at Julie,
1. to split the money in half, and each of us spend half on things we either want or need
2. Use it to pay off Credit Cards.
3. Split it and put it towards the girl's college fund.
I think we decided to go with door number 1, but there is time to decide.
It's dollars being wasted. They need to cut the tax hit on business and make it more desirable for company's to come here. Companies leave this country why? Because of high taxes. All you have to do is look at states with a high tax rate and see how fast the companies leave. Cut taxes and they'll flood in.

in other words, if you bill it, they won't come...
Businesses need more than just tax cuts. Lots more. Seems some folks want to drive businesses out of the US. But it would be a good start. De-regulation and tort reform should be part of the deal if we want to try to bring back all the jobs we have lost.
It's probably pretty complex when labor costs are factored into it. Most of us wouldn't work for a buck or two an hour with no benefits, but with the so called free trade stuff, that is what someone working in manufacturing is competing against around the world. If I'm the CEO of a big corp. that wants to make the most money possible I don't have much incentive to keep those jobs here in the good old USA if I can have something made elsewhere and sell more and double my multi million dollar salary. Taxes are only one part of the picture. There is taxes, labor, regulation, inovation, greed and a whole lot of other stuff that makes up the picture. Who would of thought 30 years ago that a Japanese car company would be challenging GM and would have overtaken Ford.
Chad don't you and your wife file jointly? if you do it's 1200 for couples.
why yes we do... that's why i said 6OO a person...
I agree that lowering taxes for business would bring businesses back to the us, but seventy percent of all bussiness in the us now is small business. we should be giving small business the tax cuts. or maybe flip over to the flat tax. I have been reading up on the flat tax. Might be a good idea.
we haven't decided on what to spend our rebate on. probably save it., for a rainy day
i think this is a bad idea, but im not going to turn down money. im going to use mine to buy a new video card (another one) and the rest on paying off credit cards.
As far as I am concerned it is nothing more than a small bandage on a HUGE wound. None the less by the time they acctually cut the checks I will have vacation and with the extra we are going to take a vacation and go home to Wyoming for a week or so and visit my folks, havn't seen them since Lynn and I got married.
