Anyways...dad has since upgraded to one of those Freightliner vans with the Mercedes-Benz 5-cylinder diesel. He loves it. 24mpg in a 5-ton van and more power than the 7.3L.
kero wont hurt your engine,, butt there is no way it wil increase power or fuelmiage. it al boiles down to the fact that kero has less btu's er pound therefore it will decrease power and therefore fuelmilage.,,it may reduse totafuelcosts insomeareas where you can get kero cheaper than diesel.
When it locks the engine up it gets real tight. When it starts flying apart yes it would get real loose.
When I was a little kid I grabbed my neibors can of kerosine instead of his gas can for my quad. it ran like crap til i got it all out but it ran fine afterward.
Correction, kerosene won't hurt all diesel engines. Our PSD's do require a certain amount of lubrication or injector scoring and damage can occur. Straight kerosene does not have lubrication additives, so over time you will end up with injector problems. Not all diesel engines are as picky about lubrication. There are some old engines that will run forever on kero.
Now if you need kerosene in an emergency or use it only once in a great while, then there's really no risk of damage or problems.
I have run about a 50% mix of diesel and Jet A in my 6.0. I didn't notice anything unusual. Don't really recomend it all the time because of the lube issue. But it does work.
