I have a 95 F250 and I need the Right front lower shock mount. I odered one from the local dealer about a week ago and they tell me it is on backorder. They don't say that it's discontinued. I called the four dealershios that show inventory on hand, and none of them have it either. The for # is E2TZ5458A. I was wondering if anyone knew of an aftermarket replacement part for this number. If not, I will have to remove the old one and weld it up until I can locate on in the bone yard that someone would want to part out from the springs. Any input would be appreciated
I just broke mine too. The local dealer tells me that there is one in Alaska. Yeah, just one.
Here is a link that I found on the 'net but have not followed up on...
I found one. I called a dealership in Glendale, AZ because he showed one in stock, but he didn't have it either. He gave me the numbers of all of the ones that were at the other dealerships. I finally found it at a dealership in TX. I had to have my local dealer order it from them and I also ordered new u-bolts. I cut off my old bolts and replaced the part in about 45 minutes. I saved the old one and when I get a chance I'm going to weld it back together in case I need one for the other side, they are interchangeable. If you can weld, I would recommend that you go ahead and get new u-bolts and weld yours back together since the company that makes these parts for Ford is not producing them at this time which means that they might be discontinuing them. If you do call around, forget the one in NJ, MA, NY, AZ, TX and AK. I wish that I could be of more help, actually the dealer should be the one making the calls, not you or me. My friend works for a Chrysler dealer and he says that when they put in a request for a part and the local warehouse and factory are out of it, Chrysler will look into dealer inventories and have it transferred to the dealer that needs it. That is customer service. I think that maybe if the US automakers had better service for their customers, they would have more diehards. Although I'm a Ford guy since as far back as I can remember, sometimes these dealers just make you want to switch teams. Good luck.
You can enter all the numbers that you want, if the dealer's inventory is incorrect, it doesn't do you any good to have a discounted price and not be able to get the part. Believe me, I used to be in the parts business for 17 years doing wholesale and retail. That's why I wanted the guy on the other end to go and get the part in his hand. Only one dealer was able to do that and like I said, it was the one in TX. Unfortunatley, my local dealer didn't do the leg work, I had to, sounds like laziness to me, especially if you can look at a screen and see what other dealer's inventories show. Maybe I'm just old school, I would go out of my way to locate a part, I had a reputation for finding you a part and if I told you that I couldn't get it, chances are that you weren't going to find either.
Y2K ford parts website is down. Direct ford parts does not have it. I have also looked for an upgraded piece, but it appears dual shock kits just use a longer bolt and the same mount. Any ideas here or do I have to weld the old one back together?
Just weld it back together and maybe make a fish plate to go underneath it. That's what I did with my old one just so that I have a back up in case the other side craps out too. I even went as far as trying junk yards, but the one around here were very arrogant and couldn't be bothered with a small item, they just want to sell complete units. You could try putting one on order and replace the old one when it arrives and save the old one like I did. The easiest way is to cut off the u-bolts with a wheel and use new bolts. Best of luck and let me know how you made out.
It is an obsolete part. Only two dealers nationwide even show that. One in Alaska and one in NJ. Hit me up, I should be able to help you get that. My website should be back up and running now. Let me know if you have any problems with it. Give me a call if you like.
Everyone else that I called must have corrected their inventory. I guess that you didn't see that I said not to call the dealer in NJ or AK since I already checked them out. The guy in NJ was totally arrogant and now he hasn't even adjusted his inventory and the dealership in AK was sold and the new guys have not updated the inventory yet.
Thanks for the phone numbers Kenny, but neither dealer has the parts as Gabe has mentioned...
The NJ guy was kinda arrogant, but maybe thats just a NJ thing?! I dunno he faxed me a sheet showing all the suspension parts and when he figured out what I wanted he was like no.
I don't know why I didn't do this earlier....checked status on my ordering with ford, and it's not obsolete, it's just on backorder. Give me a call again and we can get this coming for you if you like. Or plug it in on my site.
I knew it wasn't obsolete. The company that makes this part for Ford is not prodicing them right now. If you look, you will see that there are approximately 129 on backorder. That is why I had such a hard time finding one and I really don't think that there is another one to be had. Hey 1969fordguy, arrogance is not a NJ thing, I think it's up to the individual, I'm from NJ, and I don't think that I'm arrogant. If I could help you out, I would, but like I said, cut your old one off and weld it back up and use new u-bolts. Put one on order and see how long it will take to get it. I even asked one of the dealers if there was someone to talk to at Ford in the parts proliferation department. He told me that there wasn't anyone to talk to, but I'm sure if you had the right connections, someone is available to help you.
