I just loaded the general economy tune on my truck, seems to work well. It was -8F this morning so it is really hard to get a good feel for the tune. I was wondering how long it takes the trans to adapt/learn after a new tune is loaded? I am going to swithch to the aggressive tow occasionaly, & was wondering how long I had to run the tune before I pulled my trailer? Thanks in advance!
when i first loaded the hybrid tune it seemed like it took about a 100 miles before i was excited about the shifts. They get better every day. When i loaded the aggressive tow it seemed like the shifts were perfect from mile one.
Rule of thumb is about 100-200 miles to relearn. However, you can tow your trailer after you load the tune. When you switch to tow/haul mode your tranny relearns anyway.
I've read a post from innovative that it is "roughly 15-20 miles". Also, it's just my opinion but in -8 I would probably run a stock tune unless I was plugging it in.
This is fairly on line with a question I have. I am not plugging my truck in (previous owner took wiring out for some reason, and I haven't got around to replacing it) and it has been right around 10 degrees in the mornings here. With the mild street econ. tune from Spartan my truck slobbers in the morning for about 10-15 seconds, just like stock. But, with the hybrid race tune loaded it slobbers for about a minute, and then slobbers for a few seconds when you put it in gear. I am just wondering if this is okay on the motor or if I should go back to the other tune for the winter?
02Stroker, loading a tune in and immediately towing is perfectly acceptable. The tow and economy tunes should be reasonably adapted after taking off from a stop once or twice. The hotter tunes may take a bit more mileage to adjust, but there should be no drastic changes after a few miles.

Can you tow in economy tune mode? Is that only for putting around empty?
If I get the SCT tuner will I gain any fuel economy towing? I only tow with my truck.
you will get a mpg or two depending on how heavy your right foot is. The best thing about the tow tune to me is that i had an 8500lb trailer last weekend running 70 and couldn't get the egts over 900*F if i wanted to. I can easily do that running the truck w/ the stock program. Lower egt's makes me happy
Hey Matt if you're still here is there any news on the new general economy tune with the egr ON (better mileage) for the '05's and '06s?
VXCF5 strats appear to be a hit or miss at the moment but all the older ones seem to be hits with EGR ON. I am running my first tank (GEN ECON - EGR ON) with the VXCF4 strat and will report mpgs once I hit 1000 miles or so.
Still waiting on tunes from him myself....Damn near 1 month today....Does Matt usually take a month before he sends out tunes or am I just the unlucky one? He's had my credit card (which he hasn't charged), my strategy and my email address for about a month and still nothing.......Even talked to him yesterday and he said he'll send it out in like 10-15 minutes....Still nothing. Maybe it's just the case that I didn't buy my tuner from him so he doesn't care or something...I dunno.
Who else would any of you recommend for custom tunes?

Mike, after I talked to you yesterday several things came up and I ended up leaving the office for a few hours to take care of a stranded truck.
I haven't mailed out (or billed you for the tunes) simply because I physically haven't been able to keep up with tune demands of current customers; much less add more to the list. I'm not going to charge you for a service that I can't provide until I am ready to provide it. I have your information sitting on my clipboard directly in front of me at this moment, and I will be working all weekend getting caught up, Sat. and Sun. As soon as I can get your files complete, I'll email them out and process your order.
Thanks
Matt @ Spartan
