Alright, well as we all probably know, one of the best measures of getting good gas mileage is keeping the tach under 2000 and keeping our foots off of the loud pedal. With the prices of diesel and the winter blend fuel, i have only been getting 10-11 mpg, which despite my lift and tire size is not normal for my truck.
Anyhow, i was thinking for us DP users, i wonder if Jody could burn a tune onto our chips ( custom made of course) so that in that tune ( more than likely an 80 econo one ) so that we couldnt go over 2,000 RPMs. Well, i guess you could set that limit whereever you want. I thought this would be a good idea because i find it hard for myself to accelrate without going over 2K. Especially when im not paying attention.
Thoughts??? Maybe this is not possible but i thought it would be a great idea. I will probably ask Jody next time I talk to him unless someone beats me to it.
he does have a tune that you can pick a speed the truck will not go over....great for when the boy wants to use the truck..i cant see why he couldnt do it with the RPM's
i keep it under 2k at all times- even from take off. it is a lot easier to do with the 80 econo. every now and then I put my foot in it, but not too often. And 68 mph is fast enough, in most cases anyway, for the freeway.

i try to keep it under 2K and this tank have been successful..this is in the 80e tuen. What kind of mileage do you see empire? And does 68 limit you to 2K? I never go above 70 but that even keeps me about 17-1800
I get tired of filling up on long trips and having to use my credit card three times to fill the tank! And usually the last time with the card only takes about 2 or three bucks! The mileage with the diesel is pretty good, but that 44 gallon tank is a real booger to fill up.
The biggest problem I could see with a tune that regulates RPM, if you ever got 'into trouble', you couldn't mash it to get out of trouble. There has been an occasion that the throttle has gotten me out of trouble, I wouldn't want to not have the abillity. Especially in that situation, you wouldn't have time to try and switch the tune.

Wow, where did you get a 44 gallon tank? I thought these things had 38 gallon tanks, but I'm all for bigger!
I'm with ya on the card thing!! I really hate that!
The "29" gallon tank actually holds about 34, and I think the "38" gallon tank is probably around 44. When I drained my tank for the in-tank mods, it was bone empty (maybe a pint or two left down there), and when I put the 5-6 gallons back in it, it took a hair over 29 to fill it to the neck. So I know mine holds ~34 gallons. The most I've ever put in was about 31.5 gallons, and that was after a pretty severe pucker factor on a long, lonely stretch of interstate ~70 miles or so after the fuel light came on.
FWIW, I'm at about 505 miles right now on my current tank. Still have some room above the E line, so I should be in the 18 mpg range off this tank.
