They have the same bolt pattern. There are two different ones for the 351-400 depending on what kind of pressure plate was used. The old 429 car bellhousings are deeper than the 351-400.I don't know about the 80's 460 bellhousings.

Thanks for the replies. What i want to do is drop a 460 into my f100 wich at the moment has a blown 390. So I want to know what bellhousings will be compatable. I know Ill need to change the mounts and because im getting the motor out of a car Ill need to change the exhaust manifolds. Unfortunately Ive got an NP435 tranny and need a manuel bellhousing. So now thanks to your help I know to look for a 351M/400 or of course any 385 series bellhousing. If anyone has any other advice or info that could help me out I'd be too happy to except. Thanks a lot, FTE RULES!
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 17-Jan-02 AT 02:23 AM (EST)]all 385 bells are compatible and that includes the 351M/400's catch is getting the flywheel right, early 460's and 429s are internally balanced latter models are externally balanced.
Good Luck

A question on your change from E4OD to manual. What year? Also, what if anything did you have to do to the E4OD harness &/or the engine EFI computer/wiring? I want to do the same thing in an 89 350. Thanks for any info. Bob :-)
