REally???? Heck, even my edge evo reads some generic tranny codes. Anyhow, I might have read this wrong, but was the guy that started this a ford engineer for tranny?? Why is he going to replace a sensor without having the codes read??? Thats a little weird. Ok, A LOT weird. It could be one of 200 things. GO GET THE CODES READ.

The sensor & checking the wiring are a cheap test...If he has to go to ford it may be much more ...(you are at their mercy)
Most guys don't have a scanner & don't want to go to a place that has one ,,,thats why most of them post here,,,
If you like ,, we can always answer ,,,"get the codes read "
Then it will be easier all the way around (boring maybe) ,but easier
Because Ford wrote the software in the PCM to require a Ford specific scan tool to read trans codes. Not all code readers can do it. The EPA requires that all OBDII scan tools be able to read codes the turn on the check engine light, but there is no requirements for codes that flash the OD light.
Thanks Mark, that a good piece of info to know. I'll bet there is only a very small hand full of guru's out there that knew that. (I just know I'm gonna get beat up for this)

NO! It is Icebox's thread. Mark (Engineer) told him that just replacing parts randomly was not diagnosing anything. Mark told Icebox to get the codes read then the forum could help him.
Icebox took it the wrong way and was on his way to throwing a tantrum.
That is the "Reader's Digest" version and it will proly pi$$ someone off as well.
Dang, apparently I am lucky around here. Both autozone and advanced auto here in town have the ability to pull all codes. I think autozone charges 2 bucks for theirs. I also have a garage on the other side of town that pulls all codes as well. They do it free. They even have a body code reader for chevys, which is hard to come buy around here. THE LAST PLACE ON EARTH that I would get my codes read is at the ford dealership. They know as much about diesels as my daughter does. Well, atleast their master tech does.....LOL Not to mention they charge something like 65 bucks to hook up the scanner. Here in my town, only the morons go there. IS your guys towns and cities the same way, or am I the exception to the rule?

I have my own scanner ,, so my knowlege is limited .....
this is the first I have heard of an auto zone with a PSD capable scanner....
their the ones with a body code reader too. I thought that they all had em, but my brother is telling me otherwise. he said in Delaware ohio, not 20 min from me, they have NOTHING. No body codes, NOTHING.
i had the light start flashing at me. then 2 miles later the front seal blew out. not sure if they are related at all. but im in the process of doing my homework on a good trans now...
