6.4 liters which turns out to be about 3 1/2 quarts. While you're at it you might look into the new cover Ford has for about $50. I used Royal Purple brand oil in mine.

PSDLOVER, did you have to add friction modifier with the Royal Purple? I have the new ford finned cover, permatex and RP to get mine done. Trying to figure out if I need to get the friction modifier.

Royal Purple says its already in there but I am not an expert. There are a number of them on this forum however.

I too would like to know if the 'friction modifier' is needed with Royal Purple.

And, does anyone know the capacity of the Dana 80?

No friction modifier is needed with Royal Purple . The cap. of a dana 80 is 8.3 pints and it calls for 75W90 not the 75W140 that the 10.5 Sterling axle uses.

Dana 80 Rear Axle 4.0L (8.5 pts)
Dana 80 Trac-Lok Rear Axle 3.8L (8 pts)
Friction Modifier for Trac-Lok axles 236.56 ml (8 oz)

It just goes to show how brain dead I am today...I quoted the wrong post.
I meant to quote HookedOnFuel's question about the capacity.

I do the same thing. I buy a big jug or two and start pumping it in till it spits it out.
