For a month now, everytime I fill my wiper fluid reservoir, the low level light comes on the very next day. I didn't see any blue liquid under my 2001 Navigator, but just know the fluid went somewhere. Over the weekend, I noticed that my passenger side carpet is blue, and will assume that's where all my wiper fluids have gone.
Is this something easily fixed, or is it a dealer fix? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
It sounds like your feeder line or a connector is cracked and pushing fluid into your cabin air intake.
Have you seen any moisture on your frame? I am asking because I also suspect a leak from your resevour or the feed from it. As you drive the air motion may be causing a wicking action drawing out the fluid. Check your firewall for moisture also, if its wet, the fluid could be weeping in around a grommet.
I believe if you pull the floor trim at the threshold of your door that's where the tube that feeds washer fluid to your rear window washer is located, you probably have a leak in it which would probably be an easy fix. Just follow it along until you find the leak. You may need to also pull the kick panel to follow it up to the firewall.
I'm not sure the 2001 still has it, but the older model Expy's have a connector behind the passenger side kick panel that was known to come apart. The fluid would be pumped from the line into the passenger side door channel under the floor trim.
I just recently purchased a 2000 EB that had the same problem. ToddRG was dead on. I wish I read the forum prior to chasing the leak down! It was indeed a hose connection behind the right frt kick panel.
I don't see why not, I would recommend plugging closer to the washer reservoir so gravity does not work against you If my connection seperates again in the future, I will attempt to clamp the connection with a little more pressure, possible a wire tie, the connection does not have to be that tight....
Also, thanks for the info. Solved a mystery with my '99 Expy.
Popped off the passenger kick panel and saw the end of a hose dangling. Found the mate lying below. Stuck 'em together in 5 seconds and the problem is gone.
