I am new to this forum and have been reading for a while and everybody seems extremely knowledgable. I have a problem and hope ya'll can help me. I am restoring a 79 extended cab and I wanted to install a 390 FE motor. I went and got the motor mounts for the Fe motor today at the local NAPA and they told me that Ford stopped putting the 390 in these trucks in 76. So we got back home and put everything together but nothing went together. Does anybody know of motor mounts that will work or do I new frame mounts? I was also wondering if a 390 was able to be made a 427 and what needs to happen to make it a 427?
I have a four speed trannsmission and it is already bolted to a bellhousing that is bolted to the motor, is there going to be problems with the transmission crossmember? What style of Manual transmission will work? thanks
