e4od question

My tranny, the e4od, is doing something that I didnt forsee as serious but thought I should ask about it. When I make the first trip of the day or if it sits overnight in otherwords, the tranny doesnt fully shift. It is like it doesnt want to shift entirely. After a while of driving down the road or if i let it warm up real good it will shift fine the rest of the day. has anyone else had this problem? how can i fix this??

Tom, I would suggest that you get or borrow a OBD1 code reader and following the directions, read the codes from the TECA (Transmission Electronic Control Assembly). It will save you time and money trying to diagnose your problem. Jim

Could it be......

If you mean the trans does NOT shift normally.....trans TOT (thermister) on the solenoid pack.. sends a voltage signal to the PCM.... as to whether a cold start shift schedule is required...... The cold start shift......lowers the shift speeds to allow for the lower performance of the engine... When oil is warm enough normal operation resumes......

TOT....Transmission operating temperature sensor....
