That part I got down, and numerically is the cure for any confusion. We use that a lot at work. I edit at a car magazine...so I should've understood what folks were saying about the 2.73 not being a city gear, too.

Pretend Semi

Hey 81Bronk, don't get rid of your 2.73.

I have the I6 with 2.73 gets good mileage on highway and around town, except in our cold winter now and if you have hills, but.....
When else do you get to pretend your a semi. I have the m50d and its pretty much like a semi. I even got a cb radio and antenna so I can talk like a trucker. All the joys of a semi without the fuel costs and people cutting you off Now if could find a 10 gear tranny, I would be in semi-truck la la land.

In reality, its a dog on the hills, but mpg are good. And it has moderate acceleartion, I can beat some Saturns w/auto! I would put the 3.55s in. Let me know how they work out and if you pull higher rpms all the time. The I6 can tow huge amounts, but its slow. I have heard it will start out slow but it is no different with a load than unloaded??? That is heresay, but I once loaded 2k or a bit less on my 2.73s and felt no difference. Anyways, you get to feel the difference going from 2.73 to 3.55 so let me know if its worth it or not. Someday I might do soemthing similar

Have fun, 3.55 are a good mix of mpg and torque which is low end power acceleration!

Paul

P.S. I get 19 highway, 17 city, 14 in the winter

Wow this thread exploded while I was gone at work!
Thanks for all the replies guys. To answer some of the questions:
The truck is 2wd, I know the gears would have to match.
Its pretty flat around here for the most part. The lights are pretty much drive to the next one and stop, its rediculous. Lots of starting and stopping. I will be towing with this truck pretty much constantly as it will be used for landscaping.
I will barely be using it on the highway. The main road between where I live and town has a speed limit of 45, but traffic flows at 55, and I do it right now in 4th with the trailer and my mower on it.
I have no tach so I dont know the RPM's but I can easily do 25 in 1st, 35 in second 45-50 in 3rd and stick it in 4th with the trailer on and keep it at 55 without much pedal.

Toss a set of 4.10s or 3.73s in there. You'll love it.

If you don't tow with it, keep the gears.
