heater does not work

I have a 1997 E super duty van/motorhome. (v-10) The heat from the dash does not work. The blower works fine and the a/c works fine. All vents work fine (defrost, etc) I just cannot get any heat. I thought that the dial control that controls air temp was bad and took the unit apart with the intent of buying a new control unit. However, in a search on this forum there appears to be a door that does not want to work in the heat system. Should I put the controler back together and work on the door system? Any insight into this issue would be appreciated.

Does you're temp gauge show that you have good warm engine temp? Are you're radiator hoses, and hoses going to and from the heater core warm too? Is the radiator low?

Not sure about your particular van, but most have a water control valve in one of the heater hoses under the hood near the firewall. It has a vacuum line going to it.
They sometimes lock up, or maybe the vacuum hose is leaking.
