I have a 2000 F250, 7.3L, auto., 4x4, shortbd, 3.73's, 6.0L trans cooler, 90,000 miles on the odometer. I tow an Everest, 32' 5ver, and would like to upgrade/rebuild the "slushbox". It still shifts okay. I have read about Brians Truck Shop and all the good work that he does. My problem is that I live in Southern CA. and to drive to BTS would be a bit of a jaunt. I have heard of John Wood Automotive in Holtville, CA. He seems to have a good rep., but I don't read much about him here at FTC. Can you guys make some recommendations ? Also, need an exhaust brake mod or ?
I have heard nothing but good things about John Woods trans. I don't have one but there are some people on here that do. I think Diane form DP-tuners is running or going to be running one of his trans in one of their trucks. I would say that since John is closer to you that it would be better to go that route.
As for the exhaust brake I have no clue don't have one or a need for one.
But maybe this bump up the list will help get you some info.
The above Exhaust brakes use your EBPV as your brake. They are the least expensive options. You can add a real exhaust brake as well, they are a lot more money, but will work better.
Have you looked into one of our BD Transmissions and/or Exhaust Brakes?
We are just North of you into BC but have stocking distributors in the California area. Our transmission are not only top rated in the industry but carry one of the best warranties too. The BD Exhaust Brakes speak for them self!
Let me know if you have any questions and I will be happy to give you more information to assist you in your decision.
Hope this helps Dave
