460 Intake gasket

I am doing a buil-up on a mid 70's 460 to put in my 68 F-100 2WD SWB. The parts store gave me a metal valley pan for intake gasket. But performance shop is showing the regular type cardboard/metal gasket. Which one should I use? Is one better than the other for performance or reliability?

Also what do you use to plug the smog pump tubes on the heads?

Thanks in advance for any info.

The metal valley pan is to keep hot oil off the bottom of the intake, I believe. I don't know which is better. I've put motors together both ways(with and w/o valley pan). As far as the smog holes go, any auto parts store should have the right size expansion plug to fit the holes in the heads.
