I have a 460 in a 68 bumpside that I am building for the street.I have been told to port the heads before installing headers, new timing chain @0 deg.,edelbrock performer intake, edelbrock 750 carb. The heads are D3's and my question is do I port the ex. runner to match the gasket or is that to much ? Also I am concidering running a 1in. spacer under the carb to help keep the fuel cooler,or would an edelbrock preformer rpm get me the same results.one more question what timing chain set do I use?
run a rpm intake
the biggest carb you can find
port the exhaust port...leave the floor and sort turn radius alone just raise the roof and blend the bowls....
get an early 429 timing set...
and i recommend the lunarti BII Cam......
My brother did this to his 460 and the thing was a monster....
if you can find some efi pistons they will raise the compression a bunch.....
google 460 porting pics there's a bunch of sites out there that will help.
