Hello Folks,
Im the new kid on the block. Very informative site.Im not sure if Im posting this in the right place but will give it a shot.
I have owned six F-seies trucks in my life time. three of which were diesels, 1990 diesel, 1995 turbo and a 2000 F450 7.3L. All great trucks! Im looking at purchasing a 2005 F350 6.0L. From research Im doing I hear there are some issues with this engine. Were the kinks worked out by 2005? What are some of the problems? I called a local dealership concerning this engine. They denied there ever being any problems.
I understand with any new thing there is alway room for improvement. What should I expect? Is this a concern? I have heard mention of "The Oasis report". Could someone fill me in on this please. Thank for the support. Issy

A big congrats on your six F-series trucks, a seasoned Ford man.
I bought a 2005 F3506.0/Crew and while having driven it very little I love it. I too was a bit worried about 6.0 issues but I believe most of the problems have been worked out in before 2005. Most of the problems were in the intro back in 03. More info in the diesel forums such as the General Diesel Discussion: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forum171/ among others here on FTE.

Thank you Fomoko1 for your help. I ended up going with the gas engine. (2002 F250 4x4 XL Regular Cab 5.4L) Considering how cold it gets up here in upstate New York (6- this morning) I thought it was the smart thing to do. I admit I love driving the diesel.Someday I will get another. Thanks again. Issy
