I have an 89 F-350 with the 7.3, I don't run it on a daily basis yet, usally once or twice every two weeks. The block heater is always pluged in in and the tank is mostly full, it does sit on a slight incline. My problem is that it starts very hard, it almost acts like its out of fuel. After a periond of cranking on it I can finally get fuel to come out of the bleeder on the top of the filter. Is it likely that the fuel is draining back down the line to the tank over the period of sitting, and if so is this normal?
I had a hard starting problem with my truck once. It turned out to be leaking injectors. The truck would sit overnight and when i went to start it the next morning it would start after cranking some and then it would run for about 5 sec. and turn off. So it could be
1) Leaking Injectors
2) Pin hole in fuel line
There are other things that it could be but i think those would be the major two. I am sure others will chime in and give you some better advice as to what it could be, just sharing some of my past experiences.
Look between the injectors at the fuel return lines. If painted "gray" --replace --they are original and are leaking air into the system causing the hard start problem. Also replace all seals for the caps.
