Lights - Cibie tech Q
I work on my own vehicles but never got into aftermarket lighting at all so I don't know squat about any of these lights.
In the back of Cibie headlight, under the rubber piece, it looks like it pulls out of the glass housing? Can I buy a replacement filament for it?
Is the Cibie light any brighter than the stock ones? If its not brighter I won't bother.
Having used the search feature of this site I couldn't find any info but one thread did mention that Cibie lights use relays for more juice to make them brighter, so I replaced both Cibie lights with stock Halogen sealed beams, are they now going to fry or were the Cibie headlights stock replacement, using stock wiring to power a better brighter technological design?
I've been under the hood a few times and had a look under the dash when I bought the car and the only non-stock wiring I see anywhere is for the driving/fog lights on the bumper(switch under dash), so I hope these Cibie are just stock replacements and the GM stock ones I used I hope won't fry.
Shed some.....light, on my predicament? lol
Give the age of your car I would say they are H-4 replacement lenses. The bulbs themselves could be stock 55/60w or higher (brighter) bulbs and the pattern may be different.
Yes, you can buy replacement bulbs in various wattages. Just don't get fingerprints on them while while changing them.
You won't cook anything going back to stock sealed beams.
Here's more information than I could ever relate to you.
