[updated:LAST EDITED ON 27-Mar-02 AT 10:32 PM (EST)]I bought a 429 and the block code is C9VEB and the heads are D3VEA2A
Is this a good combination? It has a CJ intake manifold. It has an RV cam in it. I am puting it in a 78 Bronco It will eventually have 40 inch tires. Would i be better off with different heads or will these supply sufficient power? I was wondering if anyone had an approximate HP or Torque rating. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
I would leave the motor the way it is if you want to drive it and not have to run 93 octane fuel and retard the timing so it won,t rattle. The heads are not junk, they are just lower compresson. They have the same ports as the older heads.I just put a set of D2's on my '69 429 to lower the compresson to about 9.5,and it runs alot better.I can now run the timing advanced enough that it has more power than before. Also I can now run 89 octane fuel.
