What type of axle is coded 3L

I have a 06 F-350 super duty single rear wheel. The axle code is 3L. Which axle is this, a Ford 10.5 inch or a Dana? Or could it be something else?

3L = 3.73 Limited Slip

It is a Sterling 10.5 inch assembly

Thanks, I see this axle is supposed to be lubed for life, but i was planning on changing the rear end fluid at 24,000 miles. Good practice or wasting my money?

I believe in preventative maintenance but that is a little premature unless you are experiencing problems. If you do change it don't forget the additive since you have the LS.

I recently read that during the first few miles you get break in wear particles in your rear end and the fluid should be changed early in the life of your truck. Because of this I wanted to change the fluid.

Any wear particles will stick to the magnet on the VSS. You can remove it and see it you have anything there. A small amount is normal at any given time.
