I just moved up from an '84 F-150 to an '06 F-150. Can I just add the Sirrius Satelite? I have what appears to be the exact same stereao system. The owner's manual covers the Sirrius. Stuff. So I was wondering if I just add the antena and plug it into the stereo will it be recognized? What about the "Aux" input I see in the Lariat model? Can I add the same plug in tray in the dash cover and hook up an Ipod? I can't see totally different wiring harnesses for different amenities.

If you hear something about that aux input, let me know! I've got an '04, and it doesn't have an Aux input.. but it does have an aux button!
The aux plug on top is not for Sirius satellite, the aux button on radio is the one for it. Your radio has to be especially for it, plus antenna on top of cab.
Depending on your radio you might be able to install the stock Sirius unit, although you will need an external antenna and the stock Sirius module. The module installs below the radio. If you pull your stock radio and post a pic of the back or give us the part number someone will be able to tell you if it supports Sirius. Honestly, the stock units satellite ability sucks. It's not very user friendly like the other add-on units or aftermarket headunits.

No you can't just plug it in. You will need the module from Ford about $300 or you can go aftermarket and get the pie adapter and the sirius tuner. Hope this helps.
I can't help much with the satellite discussion beause I have the OEM Sirius equipped radio in my 06 Lariat. BUT when it comes to the iPod with or without Satellite, my money says the BrandMotion adapter is the best. It's a simple adapter/wiring harness you can install in about 10 minutes. Then you park the iPod in your glove box (out of sight) and control it with the radio and/or steering wheel controls. Works like a charm.
If you have the Sat radio too you have to disconnect the iPod from the dock in the glove box to listen to the Sat - no big deal. The 'aux' button on the radio lets ou switch between the two. I have no 'aux' input jack on my radio but I have the combo CD/casette unit that was only available in 05 and 06. I don't have the 6CD mp3 audiophile system.
I was wondering about the AUX button.. I know in the '07's, the AUX button worked then Aux. Input jack.. but is there a way to add it on to other cars? Like my '06 & '04 have a AUX button, but doesn't have the input jack.
And, does anyone know what the "text" button does on it? It's the same button as one of the presets...
It says you have to disconnect your CD changer to work so I'm not sure about that - best to talk wit one of their service advisors.
The 'text' button will allow Satellite radio and/or an ipod to scroll the name of the song/artist across your radio screen. you'll have to read your owner's manual and/or iPod adapter manual to see exactly how it works, but that is its function. It works with my BrandMotion direct connect Pod adapter.

(My radio is the stock radio, AM/FM CD (no mp3))
You can buy a simple aux 1/4 mm jack from Ford that uses the "AUX" button on the radio for $50 installed.
I was just trolling through some of my old posts looking for the link to an on line manual I had once asked about. I came across this and wanted to clean it up in case someone else needs it.
1) Aux input business. I didn't make myself clear there. I was simply wanting to know if I could by the alternate tray from Ford (the one on the dash) with the Aux input built in, and just plug it into the back of the head unit.
2) Satellite ready. I was assuming that I needed the antenna, but didn't know about tuners (which I have subsequently learned). I thought that was part of being satellite ready.
3) The "Text" button displays the information such as song title, artist, etc. from compatible CD's.
4) Ignore this entire post and put in an aftermarket head unit. The stock radio/cd changer sucks. I am on the second one (the first having been repalced under warranty) and it is behaving just like the original. So many were being replaced at the time that I had to wait 4 months to get one.
