My buddy called me to come over and check out his 2003 F350 6.0 because he was unsure about something he found! While changing out the dash lights he noticed a sticker on the back of his speedometer cluster from some salvage company out of New Jersey. Now my question is how can he tell how many miles are actually on the truck. Assuming the Speedo was swapped to show lower mileage. Unless it was swapped out because the factory one went bad and the dealer matched the mileage but, probably not the case. Current speed-o shows 78,883 Miles. What do you guys suggest, the only thing I could think of was having him go to the dealer and get a print out showing the mileage of the last service done? <O</O
Federal law mandates that a sticker be placed in the door jamb if the odometer is replaced. That sticker has to show how many miles were on the vehicle, how many are on the new odometer, the date the swap was made and the shop that did the work. If that info isn't there, then who knows what happened.
