what are some things i can do to improve the effeciancy of my engin, i live in north dakota speedlimit is 75mph and a whole lot of nothing on the interstate running 55-60 is realy slow most people do 85. thinking about doing intercooler and intake (how much would this setup cost and can i use an stock intercooler off a newer ford desil) what else could i do to increase engin effecancy
well i think we can take a heavy foot out of the equasion cause it was stright highway miles with the cruse controll set. for about 200 miles of the 500 i had it set at 70mph for the other 300 i had it set at 75. although i agree that a few hundrid rpms would have a differance on fuel millage i dont immagin a 4mpg differance out of a couple hundrid rpms's also a few weeks ago i was getting better fuel millage i dident check the acual numbers but my gas gauge was dropping alot slower. it was quite a bit warmer and i was running #2 with no howes. yesterday i was running the howes. also do you think mu truck would benifit from adding an intercooler on an otherwise stock truck
go to 35's and get your speedo re calibraed should bring your ratio down...lol...and a good excuse to go to 35's. my truck gets heavy loads rolling very easly and pulls heavy loads up hills like they arnt even there so i cant say im not happy that i have 4.10's but if i could make a few mods to increase effecancy so i can get 18-19 at 75 empty would be nice
your mileage is right on par for what you have and the speeds you are running. An intercooler will not help your mileage one bit. Intake and exhaust will help it a little. I would be surprised at 1 MPG gain! Driving style in these truck is the deciding factor on mileage. For me that means a tops of 15 MPG no matter what time of year!!!
haha!!! i got 3.55's and mine run's 2000 rpms at around 68ish. i run 2500 rpm's in 4th gear at 70 and like 2100 rpm's in 5th at 70. i found out that if i drive around 55-60, 1500-1600 rpm's, i get about 22 mpg!!!!!!!!! that's outragous mpg!!! oh yeah and put it on extreme tune and make sure NO smoke comes out the exhaust. meaning, very light right foot when accelerating
