Has anybody installed the door jam switches that make contact when the door is closed? I have to find a clean way to get power to the doors without wires binding the door when closed.
If so, what kind have you used and how well have they worked...ease of install? etc...
thanks, Ed
There was thread going a few days ago abuot using conduits that slide in and out..I think Truxx started it?
I was never a fan of the contacts though, I put them in a Chevy I put power windows in..you'd be suprised at how often you tend to roll windows up/down with the door open...with the contact switches you can't.
I used the contacts in the 56 I sold. I had power windows and the speakers in the doors. With the contacts you could not operate the windows or hear the radio with the doors open. They worked fine but I didn't like the part of "non-functioning" when the doors are open. I'll go another route on the 56 I'm now building.
thanks, I think I'll go with the braided stainless door looms. I can get the 1/2" x 12" local for about $40.00 per pair (Bubba Built). It's gonna be the least destructive solution to wires into the doors. I had tried to run the wires without loom in the same fashion but they want to fold and interfere with the door closing properly.
Thanks for the info...I really loke the contact setup...but I think I would have to cut too much to fit it and I REALLY dont want to have to take those doors off again to do major surgery!
thanks again, Ed
