I've been looking at getting new tires for a few days. Found something interesting on my F250.
F250SD original tire size as purchased in 2000: LT265/75/R16
TireRack, + a few local places say F250SD size = 235/85/R16
Last time I did not get tires on line I bought them locally and matched what was on the truck already - didn't look anything up just said match the size that's on there already. Now I'm looking to get new tires and everyone is saying that this is not the OEM size. Our F350 has LT265/75/R16 (from the same Dealer) as well. WTF - who's right or, did Ford ship trucks w/ varying tire sizes? Both trucks were built in KY - both are 7.3L Diesels. Wonder if that would have something to do with it?
Your door sticker trumps what the computers say at TireRack and anywhere else. Your speedo is calibrated for the tire size that is on the door sticker.
Thanks, I'll check the door stickers tonight. I'll be really interested in what I find. My guess is the 265/75/R16 is probably what the stickers will say. Took a peak at a friend's F250 4x4 @ lunch his are 235/85/R16's but I didn't check the door sticker. I'll ask him if I can take a look @ his door sticker when we leave this evening.
My dually came with 235, I have been running 265 after the factory set blew up.
Do you run a spacer between the rear dual wheels?
You'll want/need to run a spacer with 265s on the rear of a DRW if you haul or tow heavy...the tires will rub under a load and can cause them to explode from the heat.
255mm width the the widest you can go on the DRW wheels without a spacer.
I do not run spacers. I tow very heavy loads. The only way they will touch is if you have too much weight on the truck. If the trailer is loaded right they do not touch.

My 2wd came with 265/75/16 tires. It even says so on the sticker by the door. Take a look on your truck and it should specify the size.
I think my next set will be 285/75/16 after I install the leveling kit. MPG, what is that?

Hi, Miller_Feed,
From your post , you have no reservations running with p265/75r16 ? I ask because I need to re-tire , before the snow. I have viewed most of the post on dullys and you seem to side with me. I don't haul much of a load, yet I still worry about rubbing. I don't to use spacers either. So I am asking , do you still feel the same as you did when you wrote the post?
Thanks for your help in advance.
Just bought a 94 F350 Dually, door sticker says 215 85R-16, currently has 235 85R16. Want to know can I run a 235 75R16, 225 75R 16. 75R tires are alot cheaper then 85R tires in TN. I don't haul anything. Thanks for you help. Oh, truck is a crewcab with an International diesel 7.3L, 8 ft. bed, if that makes a difference.
Hi All, I went with the Nitto P265/75R16 some months back. At 80 psi all the way around every thing is fine, no tire rub issues in the rear and lock to lock turn in the front is good. We took a load of drywall ( 35 sheets ) and 2x4x8 ( 25 ) with no spring or tire deflection
Happy with the tires
