94 f-350 4x4 crew with 7.3 factory turbo. I need to change my fuel filter and am not sure what the best way to go about it is. Any info would be greatly appreciated to guide me through it or a web site with detailed steps.
Thanks
Jeff
Unplug the water in fuel sensor wire on the bottom of the filter.
The remove the old filter.
Then remove the bottom piece where the water drain is located.
Make sure the old gaskets come off the header and out of the bottom cap.
Install the bottom cap on the filter using the new O ring, lube it with engine oil before you install it.
The fill the filter with Diesel Kleen pouring it into the outer holes, lube the O ring and install the filter.
Plug the water in fuel sensor wire back in.
So use diesel kleen instead of diesel to fill the filter? Is there any need to try and purge the system of air prior to firing? Thanks for the advice and quick reply.

Thanks for the info. I can't find diesel kleen anywhere but I did change the filter today. Filled up the new filter with diesel and it fired right up with no sputtering. I still have the original problem though. When I let off the throttle pulling up to a stop, the engine dies unless I give the throttle a little bump when the engine gets to about a thousand rpm's. When it does die, it starts right back up without a problem. I read on here a few weeks ago, someone had the same problem and it was recommended to add a some two cycle oil to the fuel as it was thought the injector pump was sticking or something. I've been using fuel addatives with a six number cetane boost and added an injector cleaner on the last tank. Now when it drops to about five hundred rpm's and then goes up to about eight or nine then drops down to about seven or so, where it should be. Is there a nation chain of auto part stores that carries diesel kleen? Want to give it a try to fix this since it could potentially turn into a bad situation if I need to stop abruptly and the engine dies. Plus, my fifteen year old just got his permit and is anxios to drive it! Any suggestions or help from anyone would be great.
Thanks

I had this exact problem with mine. Rev it up to 1500 and let off....dies on decelleration, at its worst it could even cause hesitation in traffic and mild surging (after finally moving). I ran some auto tranny fluid through the tank, (about a liter) and it was cured in a couple of hours of driving. I suspect my injector pump is worn, and yours may be too, but that particular problem has not been back for several months. Diesel kleen would probably do the same thing for you, but good ol Dex3 will do the trick if nothing else is around (do not use Dex5).
