I'm installing a Stinger flashlight charger in my 04 F250 FX4 Lariat Ext. cab. I plan on mounting it on the plastic sill plate beside the driver seat. It looks like the best place to get easy access. There is a bundle of wires under the sill plate that run to the driver seat. Anyone know which wire has got power with the ignition on?
There's usually a loose wire taped to the wiring bundle coming off the OBDII connector that is a fused key on wire. The loose taped end wires near the firewall just go through the firewall with blank wires on the other side.
Well I finished it. I found a wire that only gave me power with the key on so I don't kill the battery. I originally had it facing the other way but discovered the door wouldn't shut. I think it's a nice addition.
My wife likes to sit there... It makes it easy to grab when you need it. The "claws" are spring loaded so it holds it in pretty snug. I was going to put it on the dash but the only flat spot I could find that wasn't in the way was under the cubby hole where the newer trucks have the upfitter switches. The only problem is my brake controller is already mounted there.
I've got a rechargable maglite in mine, works great and is easy to get to and I just tapped into a hot wire under the door sill for power:
Thats where I got my power. I was amazed when I pulled up the sill plate. You couldn't even see the wire bunddle. The whole thing was filled with sand.
