I just recently bought a bare block 460, with some what assembled heads and an intake and other varoius parts like pulleys. I need to know what year it is before i take it to a machine shop. the numbers that came off the back of the block are 7Y902310. i couldn't tell if the "0's" if they were zeros or not. also can anyone tell me if the heads that came stock on this motor were any good or not.
thanks for the information.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 21-May-02 AT 02:54 AM (EST)] The number your looking for should be on the right rear side of the block. It should start with a C, D, E, the second digit will be a number. For instance D5TE. Which would be a 1975 casting of a truck block 460. The C is for 1960'S, D - 1970's, E - 1980's.
The casting numbers on your heads will be on the exhaust port side of the head, outside of where the valve cover lays. They are about in the center of the head, or about right above an exhaust port. It will be similar to the block casting number.
thanks for the help. i'll get the number by the end of the week and post it. I found the the number for the heads but they rusted so bad i couldn't make them out.
thanks
