Smile Nationals

Never been to the Nationals in Knoxville. Is there a lot of venders? Is it a SWAP MEET? I am only 250 miles away but is it worth the drive? Do you need to reserve a hotel room soon? Do I need to sell my first born child to be able to buy from venders or do you think they are decent prices? A few clues from someone that has been there would help.

Thanks,
Dajudge51

I went to the 25 year anniversary show in Peigon Forge (sorry for the spelling) had a great time. It had both show field and vendors and found the prices reasonable, nothing outrageous. Never seen that many F100's in one spot. If you are that close go, I travelled 700 miles to get there one way and don't regret it. I would like to take my truck if not this year then next year. Truck is currently being painted and then in a month I start to build a new house so thats why I will probably miss this years show.

I did'nt get to go last year, but I did in 06, The food is a bit high, but thats at all the shows or fairs, or festivals (I'm trying to get a booth down there this year selling food)

Ive bought and sold in the swap meet area, theres some good deals, and some stuff that must be gold thats done rusted.. or at least thats the way its priced.. Hotel reservations are a definite Must ... I usually stay on the Strawberry Plains Pike Exit (398 off I40) its only like 7 miles to get to the show.. and you can either take city streets or..the highway.

The New Product Vendors that are there seem to be reasonable. Thou I've only bought a few things. Just be warned that this show is Definitely geared towards the 53-56 years of the F100's thou there are some SWEET Rides of all years there.

If you go, look for my truck, stop by and say howdy!

What nationals in knoxville? cause if your talking about the world of outlaws sprint car nationals in knoxville that is a LOT further then 250 miles from you ( I am still amazed at how many people think those are in Knoxville TN) the sprint car nationals are held in Knoxville IOWA.
BTW that is 26 miles from my door to that race track.

Now if there is some other type of nationals to worth attending I sure don't know about em

and if you do a google search for knoxville nationals you will find that at least the first 5 pages of hits are about Iowa.

monsterbaby - i thought he was asking about the Sprint car Capital of Knoxville, IA too! Been there once and had a great time. I went in 2007 and seen a BEAUTIFULL 1978 or 1979 F150 short box 4x4 doing track work it was black and Silver. Most of my pics from that day are of that truck going around the track. My 78 crew was originall that color so that is what color it's going back to. sorry to get side tracked. I understand there is another Nationals - F100.

Actually there is a forum for this topic, the link to that forum is listed below. I originally wanted to post the thread here so more users would see it.

Anyone interested in the Supernationals you better read all the posts on this thread I created on December 13, 2007. The link is listed below.

This is a quote from the following user: "2HI2CU This year would be a good year to attend, cause word on the street is that come next year this show will be an ALL Ford show.....not just trucks ! So no more F100 Nationals,I'll probably be there.....working the show more then likely....I look forward to meeting a bunch of ya'll there !!"

I am a little surprised to hear this myself, I thought it was a mistake when they moved it from Pigeon Forge.

Yup...If anyones intending on going do it THIS year, this will be Pat Ford's last year of hosting this show. It will be in someone elses hands starting in 09,and according to Pat the new owner is intending on making it an ALL Ford show.....so you'll see more cars then trucks I'm afraid,I guess we'll see huh?

So lets make the 30th anniversary show one Pat will never forget, let's send him out on a good note !!!

We plan on attending this May 15-17. As others mention the show is heavily Effies; they seem to be talking on thier forum more about the Super Nationals and as time goes on the Slicks & Bump & Dents are starting to influence the show. Sad & glad to hear its opening to all Fords, in the past Pat always added atleast one type of Ford auto / bronco to attend each year.
It being the 30th & possible Pat Fords last; you betcha I wouldn't mess it for the world. A old Larry aka (dajudge51) will be there with me this year. Be cool if FTE had a booth area or something.

I actually like seeing the slick, bump and dentsides more than the 50's models.

Dont get me wrong, I like the earlier model trucks but do like variety and tend to favor the bump and dents body styles.

The FTE booth sound like a good idea, what would it take to put something together??

Would the FTE members be willing to wear the FTE shirts??
