Y-Pipe replacement?
Y-Pipe replacement?
I have seen a few posts regarding the replacement of the "Restrictive" Y-pipes on the 6.8's and am curious. What can I expect to gain and should I just cut and weld or should I buy a replacement?

There is no complete replacement Y-pipe assembly for the 6.8l unless you buy a complete header and y-pipe assembly made by either Doug Thorley or Banks. Of course your better off buying the headers and Y-pipe but they are expensive.
Several weld in replacement Y-pipe sections are available from Stan's or the guy on ebay. You may get a small amount of exhaust flutter with either stan's or ebay y-pipe. The stock Y-pipe is designed the way it is to eliminate flutter. There is Zero flutter with my Thorley headers and I've been listening very carfully.
I have the Thorley headers and Y on my 04' 6.8l and the power is great. The most noticeable is the an increase in low end power (Idle-2500rpm), mid and top end was improved as well.
Check over in the V10 forum, there is a recent thread there on the ebay headers and ypipe, among others.
Also I have pics of my truck and mods in my gallery.
