03 mountaineer keyless code

Bought my daughter an 03 mountaineer with the keyless entry/door pad. Dealer doesn't have the code. Said it should be on the computer where the jack is. It isn't. There is no computer/box where the jack is. Would anyone know where this code is on this specific model/year? Thanks!!

Don't know where the jack is but if i remember correctly the module with the factory code (sticker) on it is located on the drivers side rear. You'll need to remove the rear interior trim panel to see it. If the sticker is no longer there a Ford tech can retreive the factory code with the WDS. Of course if this is one of the stick on key pads Ford was selling you won't have the module and there's no way to get the code.

There is no trim panel to remove in the drivers side rear. The jack is on the floor behind the 3rd row seat. The manual states that it is printed on the computer. Doesn't tell you where the computer is however.

No interior trim panel? I knew F/L/M had made some cut backs but... Just kidding, by drivers side rear I meant the plastic trim panel on the side of the vehicle above the rear tire. Not sure but I believe it's one long piece from the rear opening to the 2nd or 3rd row seat. You could always call your local Ford dealer parts department and ask where the module (15602 IIRC) is located in case I'm wrong on the location.
Good luck.

I called 3 dealers. All said the same. That I needed to bring it in so they could pull the code with a scanner. For $50.00 of course. I told them the manual tells where it is printed but I can't find the computer. Natuarally, they won't tell me. Telling me I have to bring it in. I will look again this afternoon when she gets home with the vehicle. I looked last night for trim panels and found very few. Thanks for the replies.

I had a spare moment so I called a Ford parts guy I've worked with, the correct base number for your year model is 15604. The bad part is your vehicle uses the "G-CAT" catalog format which is the worst idea Ford had during the 15 years I worked at their dealerships. The illustration does not show where the module is located, but Doug said he would try to find the location in the repair manual if he gets the time. Hang tough I'll post a location when I can, but be aware there's still no guarentee the sticker with the code will be on the module.
Might still end up coughing up the $50.00

P.S. If you have the owners manual, check it for location.

BTW. When my daughter came home I checked for this trim panel. There is a trim panel drivers side rear. It is small and almost looks like a speaker cover. Under that panel is a motor, don't know what it controls. Passenger side rear is a panel, that is fairly long that does have a speaker behind it. However, I couldn't get it off no matter what I did. It was starting to break. It may be under there but..... I think I will wait until someone tells me for certain before I risk taking that off.

On the Gen 3s the Security Module is behind the lower trim piece on the passenger side 'C' pillar. The code is printed on a tag on the SM. Pull the weatherstrip down from the upper corner of the RR door jam to see the clips holding the upper trim piece on. Pry the upper trim piece down from the top and let it slide down the shoulder strap. Look down in there with a flashlight and inspection mirror to read the 5 digit access code.

In the rear cargo area the trim panel on the drivers side hides the aux climate control assembly. You saw the blower motor when you pulled the access hatch off.

I never did get a call back from Doug so I called a tech I used to work with. He said it's in the drivers side if you do not have rear air and or rear heat but would be on the passenger side behind the trim if you did due to all the plumbing. Have fun.

'02 - '05 = Gen 3 Explorers. That's when they first introduced IRS.

I did find it. Thanks for the help. It was on the pasenger side behind the 'C' pillar. Didn't need an inspection mirror. The tag was easily visible after I pulled the lower trim piece back a bit. Works fine. Thanks again for the help.

I don't have the owners manual yet. I need to find a good one. I'm sure these interior panels are easy to remove, but I don't know the trick yet and don't want to break it.
I need to remove the rt rear panel at the middle row seat belt area.
Any help?
Thanks
vr Mat
