Rear brakes again!

Well I had posted a while back regarding my rear brakes, thought I had the problem fixed by replacing both cylinders. But not the case, they still don't sem to be stopping properly front wheels lock and the rears keep on spinning!

So aside from replacing the the spring kit and the adjusters and cable + new shoes, I will be stumped if that doesn't cut it!

The drums from a 4x4 are the same as the 2WD drums Correct?

Reason I ask is I had a 4x4 set I am now running my other ones were as thin as sheet metal.

Humm, maybe ur master is gone. But If you get fluid from the rear wheel cylinders Id say ur master is fine. Humm, When you bleed do you get alot of fluid out? Maybe the rear flex line is gone and collapsed on its self.

If you have a friend help you, pull the drum off, take 2 big prybars and hold the shoes, have a buddy push on the brakes. Make sure truck is off so the shoes dont shoot out. If the wheel cylinders push the prybar or screw drivers, then they are working. If they dont then you have to look at something else.

How tight are you adjusting the drums? I usually crank them until the drum just fits on over the shoes with a little dragging. That usually provides noticably stronger stopping for a while at least until the shoes wear a little. The adjuster mechanisms never seem to stay working for me for very long, though I do clean and lube them at least twice a year.
