According to my owners manual, on rear wheel drive and four wheel drive vehicles, the rear tires move to the same side on the front, and the front tires swap sides and go to the rear.
I should have added this part.
I was taught since I was a kid (my father even worked in a tire shop part time), that you never cross rotated radials. But, that seems to be the factory recommended procedure at this point.
ya on its third day at ford. I hate the sealerships. didnt even work on the truck today and they didnt even call me to tell me they couldn't bad bad customer service.
Not to get off subject but i was looking at the TSB's for my truck and it had a TSB for window scratchs. I happen to have on the driverside window a bunch of scratches going up and down caused by rocks getting into the weatherstrip somehow. the TSB say to replace window and replace the weatherstrip b/c sm. rocks get into there and scratch the window. I mentioned this to the service rep. today lets see what they tell me. i gave them the TSB # to look it up. they will prob. give me a bunch of ***** like they did before about how i caused this prob. they can't fix it under warentee. My ? to you guys is do they have to fix it under warantee b/c it is a TSB????
just got off the phone with ford they said they have been calling me all day but they have been calling the wrong #. to ask if i had my wheel-lock socket but i got one. i gave them the ok to break them loose so i can get the truck back tomorrow hopefully with everything done and working. my point is that they couldnt tell me this on monday they had to wait 3 days. as for the window tsb they have to look at the vin # and if it applies they can do it if not they cannot but on this site it says for my year so there should be no prob. if there is what should i do??
In the days when radials were fairly new it was taboo to cross rotate the radial tires. Radials "set" the belts in response to how they rotate on the vehicle. Older radials were not very good at doing this multiple times, it caused loose belts in your tire and perhaps a tire failure.
Today's tires can handle multiple cross rotations without the belts getting loose and creating a tire failure, but still I keep the tires on the same side when I rotate the tires.
Got my truck back from ford yesturday what a pain in the rear. To make a long story short the changed the steering dampner and did a TSB alignment and fixed the steering vibration when going over a bump. it still shakes but not as bad. They also replaced a worn wheel baring in the front left that took care of most of the noise when turning left some noise is still present but not as much. as for the Turbo nothing is wrong the noise and what it is doing is normal. Now as for the window they are replacing both front windows and somehow reinbursing me for my tints. they ordered them and said there was a TSB for that also. From this bad experiance i had i almost dont ever want to go back. They will be getting a bad review from me when i send in the paperwork.
