But I don't see Ford offering a remote start from the factory any time soon, nobody in a warm climate would get it and I don't see too many people here in Canada that want it. Plus, it's easy enough to install it at the dealership so I don't know why they would bother with it in the factory.
I don't know how you figure that......tons of people around here have them installed....

Really, maybe we just don't push the remote start at our dealership. I'd say if we sold 25 vehicles, maybe 2 would have a remote start installed. My last customer actually got a remote start installed on his Ranger.
Oh yeah, and someone said that the aftermarket ones are better, that could be true, buti f you had warrenty work that needed to be done, some dealerships could be dicks about it and tell you that it voids your warrenty. The only way we would say that is if the remote start that they had installed caused the problem.
Not that this applies necessarily to the 2009 F-150 but, my wife and I are looking at buying a 2008 Sable Premier FWD. When you do a build & price, one option is, Power Code™ Remote Starter System for $395. I am not sure if it is dealer installed or installed on the production line. I have seen early models on the dealer lot with this option on the window sticker and it indicates that it is a dealer installed item, just included in the sticker price already.
^yes, the 08 F-150 has that as an option too. I'm still guessing that the dealer installs it, not at the factory. We need someone who either works at a dealer, or someone who just bought a new 08 car/truck, to tell us who installed the remote start.
FACTORY INVOICED ACCESSORIES – DEALER INSTALLED as per 2008 F-150 Order Sheet
(Note: Genuine Ford Accessories will be shipped (separate from the vehicle) via VIN Fulfillment to the ordering dealership for installation)
Power Code™ Remote Start System 50S
(req. automatic transmission and Power Equipment Group)
What my sales manager told me when we were ordering a new 2008 Sable Premier the other day. If they order as mentioned above, the vehicle gets delivered many times before the parts arrive. This results in many extra parts as most customers fail to bring the vehicle back to have it installed after taking delivery. They therefore do not order remote start with the vehicle but install it when the customer asks for it.

yes just ordered remote start on 08 f150 and dealer installed it but they used single button fob and say i have to have to us both the remote for keyless entry and also the starter button ... i hate this going back to dealer to find out why not just give me the one with 4 buttons..?
it is cheaper to install, because the remote starter doesn't have to be spliced into the locks etc. takes less time as well, you can get a upgraded remote start, you got a basic/bronze level remote start kit
Cool Start with Fortin any good? Still needs to be wired anyway
I've been dying to get remote start setup on my 2005 Lariat F150 5.4. I even have the parts, but they say its prob just better and cheaper to buy a newer more modern one. Currently I have 'Cool Start' with Fortin alarm work around. Any suggestions? I can change my brakes n stuff, but this out of my depth.
