First Impressions/ Comments?

Well, now that we see it, what does everybody like or dislike? Myself I like the cargo bed side steps and tailgate step, new mirrors, seats look more comfortable, the dash on the Lariat, bodyside moldings, grille on the FX4 and the closed loop tow hooks. Dislikes are the headlights and those damn Tundra looking taillights, the sunken "bird bath" on the top of the hood ( where's the water gonna go in a driving rainstorm?) the boy racer duckbill on top of the tailgate, and too many small buttons on the center stack. Maybe it'll grow on me, especially if it gets the 6.2.

i like the way the new f150 will look, i really like the new blue that they are going to be useing. For a while the only color i like on the trucks have been black, other then that dark metalic blue they had on the 97-03 trucks. The grill looks good, the plat. edition grill looks ok, the flat black ones are the best ive seen so far, pretty sure they will have more grill options like they do with the current model trucks. As far as the lights go, i see why they made it with that shape, if they would have squared it off it would look like the super duty, then their would be no point in calling it "F-150" should just call it "My Little Super Duty". But also Chevy/Gmc both have thier lights in similar design as the SD, atleast the 150 stands out a bit in the head lights. The lens that they use for the head lamps are a bit ugly though, the obscured plastic, i think the lights look better with just clear plastic, almost looking like glass.

My wife liked it immediately.

Not 100% sold yet... I like it OK, but the front end I'm not sold on yet. It hearkens back to the early 90s, which is ok, but not my fav.

Really like it. My 2008 Lariat is being built this week and I don't feel bad about getting it instead of waiting for the 2009. The first year is not really the bes to get a new model as I found out back in 97 with that new style. But I can imagine in three years, I'll get one. And I see Ford FINALLY got off their tails and redid their window switches to the "pull up to open" style like everyone else but them has been doing. Guess their tired of pets and kids getting their head stuck in the windows. Now, hope they got daytime running lights. Good looking truck.

If you watch the video's the duck bill on the tail gate is for aerodynamics, I'm sure the indentation on the hood is for the same thing. All done for a little better fuel mileage I'm sure.

From the back it has that foreign kind of look to it. I cant decide if it's because the deep bed makes the cab look smaller, or if it's the way the cab angles in to the roof at what looks like to steep of an angle. I'm not a fan of the "boy racer duckbill" on the tailgate either.

I'm not sure what to think about the capless gas tank, and I guess I'm too old to understand what benefit a USB plug has in a truck. Maybe it's an ipod thing.

Talking first impressions

I love the look of the truck BUT i don't like the fact that they did all this work and still did not have the diesel or the 6.2 ready. I might have to wait to purchase but that is ok. Ford needed to hit a homerun well in my mind they hit a triple with this truck.

'09 F150 looks like a winner

This is certainly the best looking F150 since the split from its big brothers. Only 1% manual gear boxes in recent years? That surprises me; but with those numbers no wonder they have gone to all automatics. Factory headers and the 6-speed auto with their resulting MPG increases will contribute to a higher CAFE # for Ford. Anything that keeps the number of vehicles of respectable size coming off the assembly lines is good news for all of us. While all of the airbag stuff is great for safety, you are still better off in a larger vehicle than a smaller one.

The V6 is gone? Yay! But I still miss the 300 I6 (insert tear stain here). Of course, what do I know of new trucks... I'm still driving my 95 F350!

dn.

I really like the looks of the truck, and interior. But I really hope that it comes to market with more than 310 hp.

The '09 is okay. Not great IMO. I don't know why, buy I seem to like every other generation of Ford styling. I didn't like the '88-'91s (too boxy, like the Chevy S-10 of the same era), I really liked the '92-'96 (beautiful very cohesive styling), the '97-'03 was fair (too rounded), I really like the '04-'08 (just a beautiful truck, inside and out), now the '09 looks just fair again. (grille too big, headlights not cohesive with the grille design, taillights busy). The '09 interiors look pretty nice though. I'll keep my '06 until the next restyle and feel good about the styling compared to the new '09s.

From what I've seen, I do think that Dodge did a killer restyle on their '09 1500s. The '02-'08 Dodges just kept getting uglier since the nice looking styling of the mid '90s.

I can't really complain about the interior, its beautiful. Finally ford has abandoned the bland grey colors of the late 90s (I live in BC, and I have PLENTY of grey already in winter!!) love the crome accents too. The rest of the truck is a yawn, not impressed with the styling, or high bodylines, one of the nice things about driving a pickup is the good all round visibility for its size, or at least used to be.

I question ford's reasoning on the lack of sales of the manual transmissions. Wasn't the V6 the only engine that you could get with the stick shift? If so, that is IMO the REAL reason for the low sales of manual tranny trucks. I don't get it, what is so wrong about offering a ZF6 in an F150? I shutter to think what the rebuild cost will be on the new automatic.

Very dissapointed in the delay for the diesel engine, but it had better be flawless from day one once it arrives (unlike the 6.4). Overall, its big price to pay for a nice interior, and a smooth transmission, I could not justify the cost for myself (it will probably still be rusty after 10 years).

I really like the looks of the new truck What I can't understand is why reveal a whole new truck with the same old tired engine. That makes no sense.

I like the added room in the back of the Supercrew but why would I buy this truck when I know a bigger 6.2 and a Diesel is in the works?

I really like the interior. Exterior, looks like the tundra messed with the Lincoln Mark LT. Not impressed but it will probably grow on me. I am very dissapointed in the engines offered or lack there of. I am extremely excited about the 6 speed transmission but we will have to see the costs associated.

I think Ford needs this truck more than we know and I am not going to run out and buy one. Why would I when we are anticipating a diesel in 2010? I think they should have held off a year and introduced the new body with the new engines. My .02

Not too excited about the styling. The best thing I like about it is the E Locker. About time. Every drive a vehicle with a E Locker? How sweet to control the rear end.
