if you removed the ip cover and gear and still have the front of the engine together use the harmonic balancer to align the crankshaft timing marks then use something thin and reflective like a table knife stick it down in front of the cam gear and look for two dots should be on two teeth of the cam gear the ip gear has one dot it is located between the two dots on the cam gear
