front add a leafs

I am going to do the rear shackle flip kit on my 79 F-250. The kit from Sky Manufacturing is for a rear flip kit but doesn't include anything for the front. I was thinking about adding leaf springs in the front. I know that skyjacker makes them but they don't list a price. Does anybody know how much they are or another place to get them?

Thanks

JC whitney (add a leaf) 2'' ,2 1/2" in lift around 80 or 100 bucks, if I remember right. Make sure you get the correct width.Think there is a difference in between years. Easy to put on, save your old spring clamps to reuse, you will have to realine steering wheel.

Since I can now be an authority on the Sky shackle flip (I did mine on my 79 250 yesterday) consider the following.

The flip WILL get you 4.5 inches of lift, i measured before and after. So if your only going to use add a leaves in the front (whick I also used to have in the front of the same truck, I think they were Ranchos) the front will only get lifted a max of 2.5 inches. Making the rear sit 2 inches higher than it already does.

Unless you chuck the stock blocks out of the rear (3 inches tall). That'll make the fliped amount of lift 1.5 inches. Combine that with front add a leaves and your truck may sit pretty level.

PS Just make sure that you'll be content with the aals, I started there, then went with 4" springs, now I modded the 4"ers for about 5.5"s, and now I'm looking for 6" SuperDuty springs for the front .

Thanks guys.

Hey unrulee. Did you have any trouble with shipping when you ordered your flip kit? Did you order it from Sky Manufacturing or Dunks Perfromance? I tried to order it from Dunks Performance but it tries to make me pay shipping twice. IDK why it does that but I did sent Sky Manufacturing an e-mail. Anyway, are you happy with your shackle kit? I got kinda confused with what you were saying for me to do. What if I add a 4" rear lift block with the shackle flip kit and add 2 1/2" aals in the front. My truck will still have a 4.5" rear lift with a 2.5" front lift and will not sit really level. That is what you were saying right? (seems like common sense to me but I just wana make sure I get you so far). But if I add 4" or springs it would be level? Where did you get your 4" springs from? I was going to have a metal shop make me some new ones if it was cheaper than the aal's. Do you think they can make em for me?

Thanks very much

1. Are you happy with your shackle kit? - Yep, so far. But hey they've only been on the truck for 2 days.

2. What if I add a 4" rear lift block with the shackle flip kit and add 2 1/2" aals in the front? - Well if you remove the stock 3" block and put a 4" block in its place AND do the Sky shackle flip the rear will be lifted 5.5 inches over the stock height. Even with the 2 1/2" aal's in the front the truck would sit very high in the rear. Unless that's the look your going after.

3. That is what you were saying right? I'll try to explain again. If you remove the factory rear block (lowering the rear of the truck 3"s). Then do the shackle flip (4.5 inches of lift) the rear of the truck would sit 1.5"s hight than stock (4.5 for the flip minus the 3" block that was removed).

So with the rear sitting 1.5"s higher than stock the front would probably be about 3"s lower than the rear. So the 2.5" aals would almost level it out.

4. But if I add 4" or springs it would be level? - 4" springs in the front? No the front would be higher than the rear with the flip and the stock blocks left out.

5. Where did you get your 4" springs from? 4 Wheel Parts, back when I was young and dumb :-p. Lot's of places carry em, look around.

6. I was going to have a metal shop make me some new ones if it was cheaper than the aal's. - Make what?

Hope this helps, good luck.

Thank you very much Unrulee. I wouldn't mind a little bit of an uneven truck as long as it is the back that is higher than the rear but I don't want it to look rediculous.

As for the question about the shop making them for me... I was talking about having the shop make me some new front leafs instead of aals.

Thank you very much. I will deffinetly be contacting you with questions if I have them, after I get the kit.

Thanks
