The passenger side parking light won't light up. I tested the positive with my testing light and it lit up. The ground tab was rusted so I cleaned it up and it still did not work. I ran a piece of wire to the frame and stuffed it between the bulb and the socket and it lit up. How do I fix the bad ground?
Well Since youve got a good ground at the ground tab now, I'd say you need to ground the body (you didnt say which of the parking lights (front side or rear) isnt working, so My suggesting would be to run a ground line from the ground tab to the frame.
Well like I said you can simply run a ground line from the ground tab downto the frame. This will insure a good ground not only for that bulb but for the rest of the lights up front.
Are you sure the ground wire is still good going to the bulb? You said you put the wire you ran up into the socket. What Happened when you put it on the ground tab? Might be time for a new Socket, or just a good cleaning of the wires and Tabs Inside.
The ground tab was very rusty so I filed all the rust off and that did not fix it. I just stripped off a piece of wire and stuck it between the bulb and the socket to see if it was getting a ground, then I ran it to the frame and clipped it with an aligator clip just to check.
Is there a good place to get a new socket? 4starcstems I like what you did with your tailgate and roll pan. I like that smooth look. When I get to body work I am going to pull off all the trim also.
