I have a 94 F250 , 5.8 (really a stroked 408) , but anyway, my HEGO is located just before the CAT. Converter, and i've gotten rid of that , my question is .....will it help if I moved my HEGO closer to the engine, like just at the bottom of the header????
Are you having problems with it in the stock location? I don't think moving it closer will cause any problems, especially not on a batch injected, single O2 sensor setup. I don't know that it will help anything, though, unless it is unable to reach operating temperature at the current location.
I think it takes longer for it to reach the proper temp . where it is now, since the CAT is gone, also i've converted it to MAF, and now i'm running a mustang computer, w/ an overlay harness. I know a stang requires 2 HEGO's , but the overlay harness compensates for that. I was wondering if it would be more accurate if it were closer to the header..
The fact that it is heated, by a resistance winding compensates for the distance from the block. An unheated, single wire O2 sensor has to be snugged up to the block
