my cousin spun a rod in his V10, and instead of rebuilding it, he got a running takeout, we swapped the motors out, everything went well, and all the wiring appears to be right, however, when we hit the key to start it, the starter cellanoid just clicks hard, and the motor does not come to life. windshield wipers, lights, and stereo work just fine, but we cannot figure out the problem, can anyone help?? im not sure if there is anything special we need to do to get the motor to fire. hood is still off the truck, and the hood light is the only disconnected harness. any help is great, thanks a lot!!!
the origional truck is a 1999 f250, and the motor came out of a 1999 f250, same extended cab model, just a different truck. all of the electrical works, the motor just will not start, i just went out and checked all of the grounds, and they look good, but still no go. the motor ran too, the donor was wrecked from behind, no fire or roll over.
PROBLEM SOLVED! it was a ground line that was hidden behind some wires, so he did not see it when under the truck. started right up, everything runs great, and were back on the road! thanks guys
Just saw one in the Auto-Rv publication here in Michigan last week with the PCM and an auto trans for $1200. Wish I could have found that last November when I grenaded my trans. I can't complain too loudly though, being that my buddy at the local boneyard had my year trans with 60K miles for $600 and no core. Good thing, cuz there wasn't much core left of mine.
Depending on mileage and where you live in the country $1000 to $2000 is easily found. Go to www.car-part.com and search. It looks at alot salvage yard inventories around the country.
I see them go through ebay for around 2000, all different years. now your buddy should rebuild the old one bottom up, bore it over, get forged everything, and make a custom turbo set up.lol
