I am swapping in an '89 460 EFI (EEC-IV) engine into my '70 F250. One of the vacuum lines is broken and the rest missing. It is a pink one that comes from a vacuum valve near the coil and EGR and runs across to the pasenger side of the engine. The vacuum diagram is unreadable on the engine. I have bought every book I can find. The diagrams are so small I can't make out where it goes. It looks like it goes to a device labeled "SRV". What the hell is an SRV? Anybody got any ideas?
I am on the same thing my srv line broke i dont know were it gose i called the ford dealer an they said it should go to a main vac line but i still am not sure any one know what srv means.
Ohoh. I may have to experiment...I got tangled up in a mess. MaybeI should find a similar engine that's running and 'copy' the vaccuum hose lay out. I have a '79 motor home and got a 'used' engine froma junk yard in Montana, and the hoses were all cut. I am embarrassed to say that I did not label the hoses (or the wiring)on the old engine before I pulled it out. I have been unsuccessful in finding a diagram for this engine. Any ideas? What can you tell us about your Motorhome, and the Donor truck you took the engine out of?
Year & model would be a great help, and what brand & chassis 1979 RV.
I'd have to call thejunk yard that shipped the engine to me to findout what the donor truck was. The 79 Ford I have was a 'yard sale' item which I opened my big mouth and made a ridiculously low offer (the next day a kid showed up saying"Grampa wants you to come 'n' get your motor home"). It's a Coachman / Leprechan. I've been saying it's an E-350 (a guess). I'll call the 'used parts' yard now to try to find the donor truck spec's, but Id like to keep the rig as original as I can. I could be talked into selling it (I'm too oldto have more 'projects').
Can you take a picture of the engine you have now?
There should be a sticker on the valve cover with the emissions compliance # on it.
That would also have the model year of manufacture.
I'll get a pictue ofthesticker (Right side Rear has a EGR and so on). It may take some time to get pic's on line ,as I'll have to figure out how to do it...
