for what it is worth, i,me am interested in this thread, i have said so. if i understand and respect MR hollenjoe like i know i do. it is about reciprocating weight. .because i always care and i AM gratefull to THIS forum and without quarter everyone on it to datefor the hundreds of $$$$ nick and dearest wife and i HAVE saved on this PARTICULAR DESIGN BECAUSE those before of us have been good enough to SHARE what they KNOW does and/or does NOT work i want to give back anywhere i can period. quietely and respectfully. it goes like this. we weighed a TMI 400 crank, stock mains, proffesionally ground .010 UNDER rod j,s out of the the shipping box that we RECENTLY purchased. i used a common standard drugstore bathroom scale because frankly it is all that i own at the current time as it pertains to scales. ie. NOT a digital of documented accuracy period. at this point if you fellas are still with me. a coupla more points i stated what I used, but lo and behold, it comes in right at or NEAR what rj & job specifically stated. remember now i told the thruth about the CALIBER of OUR dime store scale. we came in at 60 lbs. +or- whatever you prefer considering the tool WE used period. my real thoughts. i personally, in the absense of a documentented scale, would be much more inclined to TRUST the indicated shipping weight of any of the MAJOR shipping co,s MINUS the container BECAUSE there reputation and livelhood DEPENDS upon it. okay all done now luv you man and i am happily married.
