It's my b-day in a few days and my parents decided to give me my present early. It's a Jensen VM9311TS, 7" touchscreen, it plays all kinds of cd's, dvd's, mp3's, I can control my I pod through it, etc. Anyways I am more of a DIY kinda guy and I know that the install on these is pricy when brought to a shop. Does anyone know where I can get a vehicle specific and stereo specific installation kit so I know that when the 7" screen flips up it's not going to hit anything? Or would I be better off bringing it to a install shop? The more and more I think about it, I'd rather have a pro put it in and fork out $100 or so. Thanks guys!
Go to the install shop and buy the install kit and wiring harness you need then take er home and do it yourself, all the stereo shops should have the kit you need which also comes with the tools to remove the head unit in the 03 and 04's, not sure if the 05+ have the same way to hold it in or not
Also try and find a way to wire it so that you can play dvds while driving, those usually come with a safety to not allow that while the vehicle is in D or without the park brake being applied
not sure, looks to me like its not a double din head unit though, should fit in the space of a single din install kit and it should be able to clear everything once installed, what you should do is find a forum for electronics and specifically the one you have and see what other people have to say about it. to me it shouldn't need anything custom but i could be wrong. buddy has one in his dodge, not the same unit but a flip up and it works fine
