Waste Gate

I went to guzzle and 7.3 dot regardig the waste gate. I'm a little lost on the subject. Is this mod a must? Where is it?

The wastegate is located in the exhaust port of the turbo. The actuator is on the back of the turbo -- it's round brass deal with a small red air line going to it. The actuator rod can be shortened, or you can just unhook the control line going to it. I unhooked mine and like it that way, others don't. It's up to you. If you do unhook it, the red line needs plugged and the easiest way to do it is to push in on one of the band clap studs that holds the I/C tube boots on.

The waste gate in the turbo lets exhaust bypass so it doesn't over boost. You can easily make more power by tricking the waste gate to a point. More boost doesn't allways mean more power. You come to a point where extra boost makes more heat. This extra heat works against the extra boost you make. You lose power. Do the math and find the map on your turbo and see where it runs most eficiant. Get a boost gauge if you don't have one.
I can also help you with the exhaust.
Jerod.
