I had the same problem with mine and following the info on that link I was able to fix it. The dash is kind of a trick to get off though if you haven't done it before but it's not to bad. If you have an auto repair manual it'll show you how to remove the head light switch and other things you'll need to know.

Hi there. I have a 2000 Expedition with this problem, as well as the overhead display with the outside temp. started working erratically, then finally stopped working completely. Anyone know how to fix that?

I think what you might do is pull your OVHD console, and try unplugging the harness, use a little electrical contact cleaner on the contacts then plug it back in and see if that does anything. If that doesn't work, pull the display and check for cold solder joints on the circut board (similar to the problem on the odomiter display) and solder up any you find. If that doesn't work, I don't know what to tell you.
Thanks for the help, I received a lot of replies on this one, sounds like a lot of people have had this issue. I'm going to get out a soldering pencil and take a crack at it this weekend! I appreciate all the help.
