Tonneau covers for 1968 (1967/72 is the same)

Welcome to FTE

From the 1964/72 Ford Truck Parts Catalog:

D1TZ-99501A42-A .. Tonneau Cover-Black ~ 1967/72 Styleside ~ 131" wheelbase only.

D1TZ-99501A42-B .. Tonneau Cover-White ~ 1967/72 Styleside ~ 131" wheelbase only.

These were soft vinyl covers that snapped on/off.

Ford didn't offer a hard tonneau cover till 1973, and they're very hard to find.

> > Suggestion: autoanything.com sells hard tonneau covers. You might try them.

You could also measure later trucks pickup beds. Maybe you can find one with similar dimensions to yours.
Measure all the truck beds, not just Fords.

I have a RollTop on my 69 and I Love it! It is aluminum with a black fabric skin. To Open just push it forward and it rolls up like a window shade. Pictures in my gallery. Down side - Pretty expensive but easy to install. I am a dealer for these also so I can get you part numbers and a place close to where you live. Shoot me an e-mail if you want more info.

I used a tonneau cover from '96 model truck('92-97?) on my '67. Fits perfect! Got it at local cap store for $199. They looked at size chart and compared it to my bed and it was a perfect match. 5 yrs and still going strong.

do you guys notice much of a difference in gas mileage? i know the mythbusters tested tailgates but not tonneau covers. and even still, they only tried 1 model truck, not a variety.

Yes - My Gas Milage went from 7 mpg to 7.2 mpg LOL! No - I really did not see any change in Gas Milage - It is nice when I am going some place and it is raining or snowing out.

Have a Snug Top fibreglass cover on my Crew Cab DD.

Despite being fibreglass, it weighs a ton.

No improvement in gas mileage...I get around 8-10 MPG = city.

I live at the top of a very steep hill. I can coast down, but it takes a gallon of gas to get back up.
