I have a 2000 E350 van with a 7.3 PSD and it's getting ready to turn over 100k and has sprung a coolant leak. I'm in the process of replacing all the hoses and the serpentine belt.
There is a heater hose that runs from the water pump location, around the combustion air duct and to a connection in the firewall. The factory hose looks like it's crimped on but the replacement hose looks like a standard clamp style fitting. Do I cut the crimp collar loose and then band clamp the new hose to that piece?

Thanks.

I would say go for it. The only thing that I would make sure of is if there is a flare on the heater core pipe. Without the flare it would be easy for the hose to pop off under pressure.
